As a classically trained pianist, I have tried over the years to approach jazz in various ways—buying books, watching YouTube videos—but it never got me anywhere. Maybe it didn’t suit my learning style, or maybe it was just overwhelming.
The Jazz Piano Launchpad is very well thought out—absolutely perfect for classically trained students and pianists. I am enjoying taking my time over the chapters, looking back at lessons as often as I want, and systematically ticking off exercises. I had been interested in learning jazz piano for some time, but I was not sure where to start. I tried several other resources that were recommended online, but YouTube videos and jazz piano books don't compare to Michael's instruction in this program.
The other online resources, I've noticed, take shortcuts to teaching and don't focus on developing a fundamental understanding of what and why you're playing certain things. This online program gives you the flexibility of learning at your own pace and at a reasonable price.
To anyone on the fence about this program, go for it! I cannot recommend The Jazz Piano Launchpad enough!
